Today Stella Art Foundation turns 20!
November 28, 2003, the Foundation opened the first exhibition in its historical halls at Skaryatinsky Lane, 7. The Moscow public got the unique opportunity to see the works of acknowledged pop art artists: Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. It is noteworthy that the last two authors came to Russia for the first time.
The “Cat” by Andy Warhol (1975) was the first artwork that Stella Kesaeva purchased for her inceptive collection. With years the Foundation has grown to a significant extent and now its collection contains more than 1,500 works of art. Beside collecting, the Foundation was always active as a creator too: it organized and implemented more than 100 cultural projects.
In the anniversary year, Stella Art Foundation began a new life by moving to the 2nd floor of the Mercury Tower. The new halls are 10 times larger than the space on Skaryatinsky Lane, which opens up other prospects for the Foundation.
Stella Art Foundation sees its near future with unique and large-scale exhibition projects, educational activities, and cultural programs in Russian regions.
Stay tuned!
