“DREAM CATCHERS” exhibition at the ILONA-K artspace

16 March 2021 “DREAM CATCHERS” exhibition at the ILONA-K artspace

On March 16, ILONA-K artspace opened a large-scale exhibition project “DREAM CATCHERS”, which showcases two collections from different private collectors. On the second floor of Mercury Tower one can see selected pieces from the collection of Stella Kesaeva, a philantropist and the president of the Stella Art Foundation, while the 40th floor features works from the collection of businessman and international investor Viatcheslav Pivovarov.

“I had long dreamed of seeing my collection in a single space, particularly in Russia. You could say that this exhibition is a “trial run” or rehearsal prior to a much larger show. Some of the collection was already displayed at Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum in 2008 and in Venice’s Ca’ Rezzonico in 2009. The collection has grown considerably since then, and many works have never been shown to the public. I am convinced that art comes to life only when the public sees it. It is invigorating and stirs up thoughts and feelings. And this is especially valuable now that so much has been ruled out and there are all kinds of restrictions,” Stella Kesaeva says.

Stella Kesaeva's collection is one of the largest collections of the works by famous Russian and foreign artists created over the past 50 years, as well as one of the most high-quality and finely selected collections of contemporary art in Russia.

The exhibition features works by artists who played a key role in the formation and development of Russian art at the turn of the XX and XXI centuries: Yuri Albert, Yuri Avvakumov, Andrey Abramov, Vagrich Bakhchanyan, Vadim Zakharov, Komar and Melamid, Alexander Kosolapov, Elena Elagina and Igor Makarevich, Andrei Monastyrski, Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe, Boris Orlov, Ivan Chuikov, Igor Сhelkovski and many others.
