Stella Art Foundation took part on the Global Art Forum 2008 in Dubai within "Art Patronage in the Business Age. Private Passions: Cultural Philanthropy and Collecting". The speakers were Stella Art Foundation Director Alexander Rytov and one of the permanent curators Boris Manner, Professor of Kunsthistorische Museum Wien. Global Art Forum is a part of international art fair Art Dubai ("Contemporary Art Fair").

The Global Art Forum was launched in March 2007 as an initiative of Art
Dubai. The first Global Art Forum brought together 40 of the world’s leading artists, curators, museum directors, and art professionals to discuss issues that affect art today and will define its future. The Forum concerns itself with the practice of contemporary art in the context of the Middle East, providing a credible and necessary intellectual platform for the exchange of ideas. As such the Global Art Forum will continue to set the agenda for Art Dubai, ensuring the Fair is always innovative and always relevant.

Global Art Forum:2 continues to create links between East and West through exploring professional and public interests in art. Art is a business, and the Global Art Forum examines public support for the arts, corporate and private collecting and art patronage. Yet, it cannot be ignored that art is a form of cultural heritage, and so, the museum’s role in preserving the past and hosting the future is integral to the program.
