Evenings at Skaryatinsky: Natalia Mali and Andrei Prigov
December 2, 2010
Natalia Mali and Andrei Prigov are two artists whose practice the art scene associates, equally inevitably (if we take their life stories into account) and unfairly (if we take their entirely independent and important artistic direction into account), with Dmitry Alexandrovich Prigov, who, while he did indeed participate actively in several of their performances, didn’t have a particularly telling influence on their own artistic language, which comes across – to me, at least – entirely original and exhaustively thought through. This, I hope, is the impression we’ll come away with once again.
The artists say that “this performance is the product of our collaboration with D.A. Prigov, but has much to say about us as artists as well. The Transformation of the Contemporary Artist demonstrates our critical position towards the Artist figure as perceived on the Russian art scene.
